FYFESTONE GETS A SPORTING CHANCE
Fyfestone’s Elite Split and Elite Pitched products are being put
to the test on the windswept Yorkshire Pennines.
Fyfestone was specified for Meltham Sports Centre near
Huddersfield, a new multi-purpose sports complex. The centre
comprises a clubhouse, six changing rooms, a multi-purpose sports
hall, referees and umpires rooms, a new bar and function area,
kitchens and a variety of storerooms.
Verandas overlook the cricket field at the front, and the
bowling greens to the rear, while landscaped picnic areas and a
synthetic pitch are also planned on spare ground, once occupied by
old pavilions.
The £1.2m project (which is the culmination of more than eight
years planning) was started in 2003 using Fyfestone Elite Split and
Elite Pitched in Ochre, using differing course heights.
Fyfestone worked with Contractor Medlock Building and Architects
Hall Needham both from Oldham. The products used are from the
unique Hydraulically Wet Pressed Fyfestone Range, incorporating
Scottish granite, which means they have exceptional performance
characteristics, making them an ideal choice for use in this highly
exposed area of the Yorkshire Pennines.
