CENTENARY CONSTRUCTION FOR GOLF CLUB
Deeside Golf Club, one of the leading clubs in the North-East of
Scotland, has recently benefited from an extensive makeover,
marking its centenary.
A £1.75m new clubhouse overlooking the new 18th hole was
designed by Hector Morrison of Aberdeen and Edinburgh based Covell
Mathews, and built by Barratt Construction using Fyfestone.
Fyfestone’s Enviromasonry Split in Birch was specified as it
matched perfectly the local granite in the surrounding area of
Royal Deeside. Enviromasonry Split’s finish faithfully reproduces
the traditional dressed appearance of natural rustic granite and
sandstone masonry.
Hector Morrison’s work can be seen widely across Scotland and
the rest of the UK. They have been involved with a huge variety of
projects for, amongst others, Leeds United Football Club, Bank Of
Scotland, BP, British Telecom PLC, Holiday Inn and Shell.
Hamish Learmont Commercial Manager at Fyfestone added:
“Fyfestone is proud to supply product for a much anticipated
project that not only brings the clubhouse to the forefront of
contemporary design, but which allows it to retain its historical
presence in what is classed as one of the most traditional areas in
Scotland.”
His Royal Highness, The Duke Of York, officially opened the new
clubhouse for the 4,200 sq m golfing circuit during the Summer
season. The Duke is a member of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of
St. Andrews and is Patron of The Golf Foundation and has his own
Tournament for young golfers.
