FUNDING ON SCHOOLS CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES
In line with the Government’s £686 million investment into
improving school sports facilities, Fyfestone has been specified
for another education project.
Premier Fairfaced was used on for a new sports hall at Haresfoot
Preparatory School in Hertfordshire – the first use of this
particular product in the South of England.
Fyfestone provide a range of reconstructed masonry products made
from world famous Aberdeen granite aggregates and Cotswold grits
and is specified throughout the UK.
This is also the first time that Fyfestone have been chosen by
construction firm EJ Waterhouse & Sons Ltd of Chipperfield,
Herts, who used Fyfestone’s Natural Buff Premier Fairfaced.
The new 30m x 30m sports hall for Haresfoot, a private mixed
nursery to junior school, is used for a variety of sporting
activities in addition to school celebrations.
Premier Fairfaced was chosen because of its cost-effectiveness
and its colour and surface that matched the design of the sports
hall. It is one of the first buildings of its type on the school
grounds.
Few other architectural masonry products currently on the market
can offer the consistency of finish, accuracy of size, high
strength and overall aesthetics of Premier Fairfaced.
Made with quality assured aggregates exposing the fine natural
aggregate, texture and colour Fairfaced is available in up to
twelve colours.
Typical applications for Premier Fairfaced include External
untreated walls, Internal untreated walls (seen at Haresfoot) and
Party, separating and sound reduction walls.
Andy Rich, Specification Manager at Fyfestone added: “This was
an interesting job for us and was a great opportunity to
demonstrate the effectiveness of Fairfaced.
“Sports facilities are a huge growth market for us and which is
in response to the Government’s funding of sport in schools.
Apparently lottery money is being made available to build new, and
refurbish existing, indoor and outdoor sports facilities.
“We understand that £459 million is being invested over the next
three years to increase the time children spend on high quality PE
and sport per week to at least two hours.”
Former England Rugby Union Captain, Lawrence Dellaglio,
officially opened the sports hall.
Other sports facilities that have used Fyfestone recently
include Commonwealth Sports Arena, Manchester, Pond's Forge Leisure
Centre, Sheffield and Teviotdale Sports Centre Hawick.
